Screening the Inmates

Screening the Inmates

Screening the InmatesThe MPA documentary, The Inmates Are Running the Asylum, was screened at Gallery Gachet as a part of “Mad City: Legacies of MPA” where viewers could watch the documentary in the comfort of the recreated Drop-In. Guests were invited to arrive to the screening early, should they want to read through the MPA exhibit prior to the screening.

The audience included social work and psychology students from the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, past MPA members or those who remember their family and/or friends who were a part of MPA, as well as people with a general interest in social justice, activism and Canadian history. After the screening, our question period allowed the students to learn more about the process and history of MPA and there was a lively general discussion on mental health among the audience.

The Inmates has been screened across Canada and in Britain. The group that made the film wants everyone to see it everywhere. To learn more about how we made The Inmates, and for promotional materials, discussion questions, and more go to The Inmates Are Running the Asylum.
